Most monasteries were built in similar design. In the monastery there was a church, a chapter house, Infirmity to sick monks, The abbots house, The monks dormitory, The refectory, The gatehouse, Almonry, and guest house for visitors.
Benedictine Monasteries
The Benedictine monks wore black habits. These are known as the "Black Monks". Some religions think and feel that many Benedictine Monasteries don't follow the Benedict Rule as strictly as they should all be.
